Medical School, 2012
In Medical School, images and textual extracts from old academic books used by students of medicine were transferred onto scraps of paper and individually framed, and collectively reflect about the way medical knowledge controls and classifies our understanding of birth, life and death. Exhibited in a fake classroom setting, the installation includes three groups of mixed media works: the first refers to medical studies on diseases of newborn babies, the second shows images that were lifted from a manual on public health, while the third makes use of images from a forensic text. A blackboard provides the audience with the work’s ‘bibliography’.
