Divergent Thinkers

Conceived by Raphael Vella in 2012 and organised by the National Youth agency Aġenzija Żgħażagħ with the support of Valletta 2018 Foundation, Divergent Thinkers is a project for emerging artists based in Malta. It focuses on the creative processes involved in the commissioning and production of new artistic work and highlights these processes in the actual exhibition and documentation of its regular events. Editions of Divergent Thinkers have been held in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, with another larger project planned for 2018. At the end of each edition, selected artists have been offered the opportunity of a solo show and/or become artists-in-residence in international artist residencies.
