Teaching an Old Dog New Tricks, 2014

Educational projects oscillate between an apprenticeship in the known and access to the unknown, socialisation and transformation, the old and the new, remembering and forgetting. Childhood hangs in the balance. Exposed, as we are, to knowledge that has already been documented by others in texts, books, images and other data, we learn, adapt, erase, and classify things. Sometimes, new tricks banish older ones, but the old dog’s instincts still preserve memories from the past. In its wisdom, it has forgotten how to forget.
